Lately, I’ve been out of the house a lot with various projects and lunch dates.  And if I lived alone, I’d probably boil up some spaghetti, toss it with a beaten egg or some leftover marinara sauce, grate some Parmigiano on top and call it dinner.  Lucky for me, I have a husband who keeps the home fires burning, especially in the kitchen.  And for him the best pasta shape in the world is this quill shaped beauty. Whether it’s tossed with herbs, baked in a cheese sauce or sauteed with a mix of garlic, broccoli and sausage like we had tonight, penne is his favorite.  And when I get to sit down to a dinner of tomato and arugula salad followed by that great pasta and a wonderful glass of  red wine, it is hard to say that it’s not my favorite too.
